Our sympathies go out to the individual who lost their horse in a trailer/road accident a couple of weeks ago in the Woonsocket/Smithfield area.
A note to all horse owners out there who tow a trailer (as well as those of you with cargo trailers) please get your trailer inspected in order to ensure all safety mechanisms are in place and up to date. If you have someone else haul for you, please ensure that the trailer in which your animal is riding is up to date on it's service. Correct ball size properly seated in coupler, safety chains properly hooked, and a working breakaway battery and battery cable are very important and altogether less than $100 to repair or add to your trailer.
Beyond that, a safe floor with good axles and tires will go a long long way.
